He's a sour, pill popping, arrogant, rude, pill-popping mysonginist and he makes no bones about it. Because he's brilliant at what he does, he keeps his job. But still a jackhole and that's OK by him. I respect that kind of character (though have no desire to interact) a lot more than those whose like behaviors are blamed on a diseaseKierstenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11298688570648076964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9030992385782227658.post-17777653335289641462010-11-03T08:45:54.048-04:002010-11-03T08:45:54.048-04:00My guess is that, given the current intellectual c...My guess is that, given the current intellectual climate of the first world, we are all supposed to accept behavior of the brilliant as not just eccentric, but callous, excused by some personal personality lack such as "Aspergers Syndrome" when it is just plain not caring about anyone other than him or herself. Brilliance does not have to exclude caring about the welfare of others...but it seems to make good story when the genius is a detective. Conan Doyle made Holmes that way without even knowing about Aspergers. Or, perhaps it is just self absorption on the characters' and writers' part. Maybe we just shouldn't care.Irenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02684465134160083369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9030992385782227658.post-40765066931688435592010-11-02T22:31:37.202-04:002010-11-02T22:31:37.202-04:00Thanks Merry!

He kind of files it away for later. But those cheekbones really could cut glass.

I like Martin Freeman a lot. His role in LOVE ACTUALLY could have been really skeevy (he played a man who works as a stand in for porn flicks) but instead was unbelievably sweet. I think he's going to be a fantastic Bilbo.Kierstenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11298688570648076964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9030992385782227658.post-83367376732885626172010-11-02T21:35:38.197-04:002010-11-02T21:35:38.197-04:00Excellent analysis.

Otherwise, no, he doesn't care what people think.

I was surprised at how good Watson was; it's nice that he's not portrayed as a buffoon. And the actor who plays Sherlock really knows how to work a pair of cheekbones ;)The Merryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09660495393832517684noreply@blogger.com
